About This Phone
The KD-6 (short for kontsentrator direktor or "Director’s Concentrator") was a iconic piece of Soviet telecommunications hardware, specifically designed for high-ranking officials, factory directors, and administrative managers. Because it allowed for "secret" communication and management of multiple external and internal lines, the KD-6 became a symbol of Soviet bureaucratic authority. The primary manufacturer of the KD-6 was the Perm Telephone Plant (now known as Telta), located in Perm, Russia. The metal plaque reads: "Attention! Maintaining Secret Negotiations Is Forbidden."
