Columbia Baby Grand Piano Telephone

About This Phone

This 1985 phone, produced in Taiwan by Columbia Telecommunications Group Inc. (aka Columbia TEL-COM), allowed you to both play music and make calls. It had two separate batteries to power the music and phone functionality. It would work like a normal piano keyboard until you picked up the handset (the lid of the piano), and then the keys would serve as a dialer… you would ‘play’ the number to make the call.
