Hose-McCannHose-McCann1923–presentFounded in 1923 in Brooklyn, New York by Charles G. Hose and Thomas J. McCann, who developed the first reliable sound-powered marine telephone — a system requiring no external power, operating solely on the electrical current generated by the human voice. Adopted by the U.S. Military, their virtually indestructible phones became standard shipboard equipment; a Hose-McCann system was found in perfect working order aboard the WWII Liberty Ship SS Brown in 1994, fifty years after installation. Purchased by the Grande family in 1964 and relocated to Deerfield Beach, Florida, the company still operates today as Hose-McCann Communications.
