Hull Corporation Telephone

About This Phone

Hull Corporation telephone, made by the Elektrisk Bureau, Oslo, Norway, 1900-1910. In the early 1900s, six British towns and cities established municipal telephone services. Five of these were commercial failures, and were bought out by the National Telephone Company or the Post Office. The sixth, in Hull, prospered. This is a typical example of the type of telephone used by the municipal departments.
