About This Phone

Produced 1954-1959. The 464 is essentially a "wide-body" variant of the famous Model 302 (designed by Henry Dreyfuss). Because the standard 302 chassis was too small to hold the buttons and wiring required for multiple lines, Western Electric widened the base to accommodate a 6-button key strip. It was a transitional multi-line "Key Telephone Set" that bridged the gap between the pre-war 300 series and the ubiquitous 500 series.
