About The Model DBH 1001

The phone was designed by Norwegian artist Jean Heiberg, who was tasked with creating the first telephone with a fully integrated Bakelite housing and handset. It was created as a collaboration between the Elektrisk Bureau in Oslo, Norway, and LM Ericsson in Sweden. It was one of the world's first "modern" telephones where the bell, coils, and all internal components were housed within a single sleek, molded plastic body. By the mid-1930s, it became the international gold standard for telephone design, heavily influencing models in other countries (like the British GPO 300 series).
